Fundraising

The Friends of Historic Johns Hopkins House, Inc, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is now engaged in a fundraising campaign for the purchase and restoration of Whites Hall, historic birthplace and childhood home of Johns Hopkins, ca. 1780. Use the donate button on our website to support this project in any way that you can. (www.johnshopkinshouse.com)

The property is currently in the hands of a developer and was most recently listed for sale for $1.35 million. Ideally, we would like to raise this money from big and small donations. Every amount helps.  We are going to work hard to make this happen as quickly as possible so that the property does not get sold to anyone else.

After the purchase of the property, we will continue fundraising for the estimated $500,000 that is needed to fully restore the house and property.  Of course, that will include a lot of volunteer time too.  Approximately 90% of all funds raised will go to the purchase and restoration of the property.  The remaining 10% will go toward the overhead costs of this purchase and restoration campaign.

We truly look forward to becoming an active community site with lots of great programming happening. We are planning great things for you and your family.

Don Bailey, President Friends of Historic Johns Hopkins House

Your donation is tax deductible. According to the law, if we are not able to make our purchase and restoration fundraising goals, the money that has been raised is distributed to other historic nonprofit groups in the area.
